Energy is the easiest cut to make in the workplace

At the First Friday network today (4th June 2010) Jane Wallis spoke on behalf of Reading Borough Council on the role local businesses have to play in reducing the town's carbon footprint. 50% of CO2 emissions in the borough are generated by business, and 70% of those relate to energy. Is your business paying attention to energy consumption? Could you be doing more? The Carbon Trust has some interesting statistics on this - you could reduce energy used by your office machines by 60% just by turning them off outside working hours, and even more by invoking energy saving settings when they are in use. The savings equate to over £60 per year for a single photocopier and £35 per PC. How much money could you save your business?
